Many of those who have been to SUU LIVE, or who have gone to a 24 Hour Theatre performance will no doubt know who Brandon Grayson is. A man who needs no introduction, Brandon Grayson has begun to make his musical dreams come true here at SUU. In conjunction with Second Studio, Brandon is the composer of an original song cycle: Minutes. We sat down with him to discuss this upcoming project.

Grayson talked about this song cycle being about the effects of time. Each scene in the show is very different with many diverse characters, but there is an uniting theme to each scene. Time is very expansive, and it binds all of us together. It's when we look back on things we’ve done and wish we could change something. Time encompasses all of us and everything.

Brandon Grayson Sophomore BFA Musical Theatre

Brandon Grayson is a native from Las Vegas, Nevada. He is now a Musical Theatre BFA student here at Southern Utah University. Brandon has always had dreams of being a part of theatre. He was drawn to SUU because of the amazing theatre department, and the wonderful, inspiring community that it has. As a young kid, he would love going to the theatre, especially musicals. He felt that with theatre in general, it is an amazing platform where people can experience life. Musical theatre give you this with the extra layer of beautiful music.

After meeting with Head of Acting and Directing, Peter Sham, Brandon started working on his song cycle. With Peter’s help, he was able to enlist his colleagues at Second Studio to produce his work. Brandon is very excited that people will be able to see his show, and the story that it tells. Later on, down the road, he wants to be able to get his work produced in larger theaters across the country for everyone to enjoy. Like with all theatre, Brandon wants people to walk away from his show feeling uplifted and their minds expanded.
